ZBrush Hard Surface Techniques
In this DVD, Instructor Mike Jensen goes into depth on many hard surface techniques in ZBrush. Mike starts off by explaining in detail many techniques like customizing the ui, creating meshes, brushes, and stamps. Next he then takes you through the process of creating an entire mechanical character and covers everything from starting with a concept mesh to creating a clean base mesh and detailing. Mike then takes the final model into 3ds Max and uses V-Ray to create materials and render out layer passes. Last he takes the renders into Photoshop to composite them together.
This DVD is perfect for those who want to learn how to create hard surface characters inside ZBrush.

I wish Mike would have talked more in-depth about how he created the concept meshes. I am not too sure how he created some of the meshes. From the project files i can see that most of the meshes were created from zpheres, however he states in the video that they were made from unified skins and oblong spheres. Kinda confused!
. There really is no point in knowing the following process if you don't know how the concept was created. Please help me understand?

This is an awesome training DVD! Certainly one of the best out there. I am most grateful to Mike Jensen for sharing his extensive experience and knowledge.
However, Mike Jensen says "go ahead", "can go ahead", "I'm gonna go ahead" waaaaay too MUCH! It is obviously some sort of verbal 'tick'? It becomes annoying and very distracting to keep hearing him say the same thing over and over again! Just need to extend that vocabulary a little Mike!

Truly excellent tutorial, Mike does a great job explaining his methods and takes time to demonstrate his techniques. Thoroughly recommended.

I have one question about your DVD's; What is the library version package? What is included with it?

One question where can I get the material, is it possible that you can share material. I don't find any material that you attach on the project

@murlives, Max and C4D are similar in the fact that they create 3d assets thought various meshes and if you are familiar enough with C4D, you should have any issues in translating between them
murlives
can you use the same principles of this DVD for zbrush to Cinema 4D? I don't have MAX and i'm assuming that they are both similar programs. No posts on this page in a while so I hope someone gets back to me:)

Yo, this look very cool but i was wondering what the starting point is on this tutorial. do you make the concept character to, or do you start from a pre made model like the 02 Concepting pic above here
thanks

Thanks for this very nice and usefull dvd. Worth the money

Just a personal opinion, it would have been even better using zb materials and BPR instead of 3ds max for passes render, but that s just a little part of the product
In one of the introduction chapters, a few words about layers wouldn t hurt also
Anyways, it s a must have for those who want to learn hard surface in zbrush 4. I can feel the enthousiasm of Mike while he builds the model, and it s contagious

Ok, i have purchased this dvd. but im confused that when u say its gonna be tough to unwrap this model since its quite high res, it basically means its just a model to show off. can u do a companion tut so that that we can prepare such model for industry use. thanks and good job

Abojung, DVD covers all points of creation and is outlined with screenshots of chapter topics. DVD is over 7 hours in length, very thorough and inspiring.
A worthy investment in my opinion.
I'm watching and working along through the chapters right now.

Too bad author uses MAX for rendering. Wish rendering part was for MAYA instead.
