The assets used in this training come with 2010 versions (early 2010). Epic is not sporting those downloads now. How can I get the assets or proper UDK to run through this tutorial step by step?

A extra question (rather late, i know :oops:)
I'm just a hobbyist, but i'd like to show off at a friends hous after i made things (maps in the first place).
i know i could package...
But:
Is it true nothing you make in UDK can be exported to UT3, even worse... you cant just export things, so they can be read in UE, so if you want to make something for UT3, you'd need to make it in the UE, which (off course) has no tutorials here and is apparently much more difficult to learn (opened it up 1 time and couldnt even find a door...)

Thank you for your response. Yes, going back to older versions helped. I tried November 2010 and it didn't work. I think July 2010 didn't work either...finally I went back to January 2010 which worked fine.

This problem looks like its because Epic removed those assets from the Dec.+ builds of UDK.
You should be able to just add the replace from a previous build, or if that doesnt work use an older build to go through the tutorial as the techniques have not changed.
You can get older builds from http://udk.com/download

Hi,
I purchased the DVD and so far it's amazing!
I'm new to Unreal and UDK and first time learning from this DVD.
My content browser is missing so many assets (static meshes). I installed and using the latest UDK (April 2011).
Currently I'm in video 4 and already can't find the pillars and arches.
I compiled the project file that came with the dvd and lots of assets (floors, pillars, textures..etc) can't be found and are set to null after compiling.
I followed the readme.txt and copied the file (.upk) into the appropriate environment folder and I see it in the content browser but it has zero static meshes.
Please advise.

Yes salacious_crumb, this DVD is much different from gnomon's. Sjoerd goes through making a level and you learn along the way, which is different from gnomon's overview.

The video looks great, but I already own Gnomon's Intro to the Unreal Dev Kit Editor DVd. Is there anything on this that isnt on Gnomon's?

Sensational introduction to the UDK. I personally believe this is a must buy for beginners as he introduces you to a great work flow at a perfect pace. I picked up some amazing tips from this video and look forward to more advanced versions in the future, Fingers crossed

All the assets that you see in the trailer are included either with UDK (http://www.udk.com/) or with the DVD itself

Sorry for the ignorance,but i am totally new to unreal cuz i come from maya background(student).Does this dvd include the modelling of the gatekeepers(guards),the texturing of this entire scene and animating the camera as shown in the trailer? maybe i am completely wrong,i have no knowledge about UDK but i am just a newbie here and i hope u answer my queries riki

Great tutorial, even got some personal help from Hourences on email to clear up an issue...study modeling and texturing on your own and combine this knowledge with it, you won't be sorry

Purchased this DVD and have been through all the content. I highly recommend this dvd to anyone. It teaches you how to construct an entire environment from beginning to end. Ive used unreal for many years now, and this was one of the better tutorials I’ve come across.
It doesn’t teach you how to create your own assets. So if you’re a beginner and are in need of a complete overall 3d modelling to In game environment, i would recommend you buy This Dvd along with eat 3d’s old damaged pillar tutorial.
However if you just want to learn Unreal UDK, get this DVD and you will be creating fully polished Nextgen environments within hours. Hourences tutorials are always golden imo.
