Bought it, very informative tutorial. One of the best I've seen. Really great execution and content. I'd like to add to the chorus asking for an extensive texture creation tutorial. That'd make an awesome companion dvd. Congratulations on another great release, Eat3d.

Someone asked a question about the hair done in this video that was not answered ... the hair is done with Maya Hair and NOT Shave and a Haircut.
I learned so much about doing hair in theis vid. Fantastic !!

GREAT disc!!!! I've gotten so much out of it.
Any plans on a "prequel" showing the sculpting process to show us how you got such amazing detail into your sculpt?
Or maybe a disc showing us your skin painting technique (which is awesome).
Thank you.

One thing. Audio quality could've been a bit been better. Almost all the time there is an echo effect presence.

Yet again, another top quality Eat3D training source. Although I use 3dsMax it dosn't matter as MR in Max/Maya is pretty much identical. This is the definitive guide to MR SSS bar none. Alot of people-including myself- have spent hours upon hours test rendering 'in the dark' trying to achieve results through trial and error, buried under a huge pile of texture maps! Nothing is glossed over here as Tony painstakingly shows everything he does to achieve his render and why he's doing it. Look forward to more from Tony and Eat3D.

Great stuff lads, keep it up!! Smiling

Bought it, eated it, love it !
Tony Reynolds takes the times to explain everything in details, every nodes he uses, why he turns features on/off, why you should do this instead of that, how it relates etc.

I just wished the part on the texturing was more consistent, as he's explaining how each map relate to others, but it would have been great to have a part of the actual texturing process in Zbrush and photoshop as it's a big part of the "secret sauce" to achieve this quality of character rendering. Tony Reynolds explained that it takes a lot of time to have good texturing, i agree and i'm sure that i won't be alone asking Eat3D to ask him to make another product about making the skin texturing...seriously Eat3D you must do it Eye-wink

This tutorial kind of compile infos and methods that i somewhat knew, but it also add a bunch of new tips and tricks in a well structured and speaking manner that it simply made clicked my mind more than one time and made me understand certain things that were still blurry for me.
This tutorial really add to your 3D arsenal.

Great artist and instructor, great product, congratulations and happy 2011 to Eat3D.

PS : english is not my first language...be kind if there's some errors.

Yes he goes into detail about the sub-dermal, epidermal and other similar maps. This DVD has it all for skin shading in maya plus tons more! If you pick it up please let us know what you think. Smiling

It looks really nice, I don't use Maya but this seems like a perfect push to pick it up Smiling

One question though, the part about creating skin textures, does it cover how to make sub-and epidermal textures as well? Because I have been looking for tutorials that cover that area for over a year and haven't found anything at all. That part alone would be enough for me to buy it Laughing out loud
