You were getting that patchy look because you used JPEGs for the displacement which uses a patch pattern for its compression scheme. You need to use TGAs TIFs or PSD's. Otherwise nice vid.

can you do any more low-cost/short tutorials like "Old Damaged Pillar" for maya. or any texturing tutorials for maya? this was great and affordable!
