Using the face normals to place bolt heads??
I was just glancing over a 3-D palace tutorial but it was speeded up super fast and with no sound and really low res, so kind of like for demo purposes. But the thing was at the end he opened up this dialog box and was able to place these bolt heads (that were already made) directly to the mesh with respect to the normal, and it was super fast. Anything like that for Max 9?
i looked like a pre modeled bolt head... scriptspot.com?
Yeah Ive used this script since max 5 so its pretty old but has tons of nice features.

If all you want to do is place instanced meshes, there has got to be a simpler way, Ill try and find something later, if you find anything let us know!
I'm ok i found it and it does the job really fast... took a second to figure out how to set things up but it works nicely.
Thanks

yeah I can think of a couple off the top of my head.
Are the bolts something pre-modeled or were they just a primitive?
If its just a primitive you can just turn autogrid on and it should align to the normal, if its a full custom mesh there are some nice scripts out there like Advanced Painter.
Ill have to take a look to see if there has been any recent developments.
