Well I am done, although I really need to go back and run the tutorial again, taking alot more time on the Mudbox section to get a nicer sculpt. Also there are no rebars yet, which I will add next. Mainly just wanted to get it textured and exported to test in the engine.

Here is the pillar and a small concrete barrier block (both created from the pillar tutorial) running in CryEngine2.

Nice work Fortran!

When you go back into mudbox you could try smashing up the edges a little more on the sides and front, as it looks a little like its just been cut out with a spoon. Sticking out tongue
Also, currently in the texture you could try bringing down the spec. a little.

Keep us up to date as im really interested in how these are going to come out Laughing out loud

Many thanks for the feedback metalliandy! Yes I totally agree with you on the sculpting, I am still getting to grips with MudBox and am enjoying experimenting with how to achieve different kinds of effects. My sculpting work at the moment feels more to me like it is making the pillar look "ancient" ie. weathered, rather than cracked and broken. Do you have any good suggestions for ways to create good cracks and chips in the concrete ? I have watched the dvd several times now and Riki obviously has an insane gift for mesh sculpting and its hard to see exactly how he creates some of the shapes in the pillar. Also the spec needs to be reduced a bit your right Smiling. Anyway thanks again, will try get these suggestions implemented and post the results.

Hey Fortran,

I think the best thing you can do is to practice lots and lots.
Also having reference helps loads too...you can always check out google for fast access to all kins of cool images.

As for Mudbox workflow, just subtract, smooth or add, smooth and repeat as needed. Laughing out loud

The main thing is practice though..it always makes perfect Sticking out tongue
