Portfolio
Hi guys, here is my folio sofar. Feel free to crit anything on it, the work, the site anything. Can only make it better
Its not totally up to date as I have some life drawing and my latest professional project to add (which was all in unreal) but to get some crits would really help. Thanks
Thanks, yeah I know the site needs a lot of work. I'm using one.com as a web editor because I know nothing about website design. Now that I have the basics though I think I can go back and spend time making it look good. Do you have any crits on the work? I want to know if there is anything I should take out. I'm currently working on a realism sci-fi prop and a temple environment in UDK. I feel like I'm really lacking in realism as I have done so much stylised stuff in my professional work. The Dozer DVD really helped me practice a lot of good skills so I'm really trying to expand on those atm
Thanks for those website examples, they are both really nice. Will defo go back and look at the style again
On the 2d work:
Personally, I would take out the unfinished/study works. For example, the portraits really show your skill. You want to show you're best work. Although the rest are good, they are not on the same level as your portraits. Having a lot of work to show is nice, but its not always the case. Remember, quality over quantity.
Btw, the portrait of the girl is my favorite work of yours. I just love it!
On the 3d work:
I can't really say what you should take out here. I personally think you did a very good job in almost all of them. My main grip is the Dancing with the Stars presentation. It might just be me, but it looks really blurry. A render of the work you did would really help with presenting it.
Also, you may want to add you're name and contact information on you're renders/screenshots. Or at least add you're portfolio's URL, so people know how/where to get in touch with you.
Btw, this is just my opinion. You are a artist, so it all comes down to what you think looks good and what doesn't.
I would advise when you use you're Personal work... Change it and incorporate it as you're Professional work no one is going to question you on were that project was from? If they do question Personal work. Just say it was a canceled or Pre project design that did not make the cut. Not all Art Professionals work gets published. All you're work you have there can be professional quality.
Just my 2 cents.
Hiya thanks for the comment but I'm not sure I understand. The personal work I have on there is work I have done in my own time in order to learn new skills. I don't think that is a weakness in any way and I think its very important to show that you have a passion for art outside of just your job. I feel that adding a personal work section really adds to my folio. Sorry, if I've misread what you are saying though!
Yea, i dont think it is a good idea to label or pass off personal work are prowork really.
There really isnt much need to do so and showing personal work proves that you work off the clock to become a better artist
I agree, don't lie about your work. Especially if someone asks you. The last thing you want to do is make the lie bigger and try to back it up with another lie lol. Personal work is something all artists have encourporated into their site for the most part. The reason's you jsargent and andy have stated are excellent reasons why you should have a section dedicated to off the clock work.
But just be truthful with your work, it allows people to really see where you are in terms of skills and can help you grow.
Lying = bad reputation if its done enough, or even worse.... Black list

The Aarogorn's quest should be transparent. (*The white part)
As for the other 2, I wouldn't split the section into 2 images. It's hard to follow. My eyes are going from the one image on the left to the one on the right and then back again.
If you really want to keep both, I say blend them. Find a creative way to blend the 2 images together. The stones in the first one shouldn't be so hard.
Either way, much better! It's getting there.
Good job!
You're the same person that made that scifi floor? I didn't even notice. Awesome!
Only thing I can suggest is maybe a better font. That font matches you're first slot, but after that it really doesn't. Maybe something more bold and defining. But thats just me being nit picky.
Personally I think it is much better. Good job!
finally in the process of updating!! The shell is there now, will post more when its all done
SOOOO Much better. The 2d Art section preview box is kinda a tad to big though, imo.
Loving it.
Much much better
Hi guys, I would appreciate some updates on what you think of my site as it has been added to a fair bit lately
Thanks

Wrong section.
What pops to me first is the organization. Personally I think the portfolio seems a bit rushed. You have some really great work, but you're presentation of you're work is the opposite. At least that's how it seems to me. Take a look at these portfolios':

They are both organized and easy to navigate. I think you're portfolio needs to be more organized and you need to emphasize which section is which. If not, it will look a bit cluttered as it does now. Personally I would make one section "2d" and another "3d". Then in those sections split you're work into the correct categories (Ex; Props/Char/Weapons). I really think that if you do this, it will really bring out you're work. Also, maybe add some more color in you're layout. Such as more gray tones, because right now it looks really dull.
But yet again, some really good work in there, so good job!
I really love you're 2d work!
