Hey all, just felt like showing some of my work in progresses. This is my very first serious model in Zbrush (meaning I've messed around a bit but haven't really gotten down to business and decided to actually make and finish something.) Its a Trex (ofcourse) and its for a game me and some friends are developing.

You going to make a LP?

I'm going to assume by LP you mean low poly? Sorry all this modeling lingo tends to escape me. Sticking out tongue

Regardless here is some pictures of it in a game engine.

Its looking somewhat uh... un organic? I need to work on my texturing methods, the diffuse just doesn't bring out the details in a realistic way in my opinion. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Thanks for the comments everyone Ill keep you all posted.

Sorry to bump this without any update, (been working on this in my spare time because of school) but does anyone have any tutorials or hints on poly painting reptiles (or creatures at least) I'm a bit stuck on the process and am having trouble making the textures on my dino feel "real".

Our ZBrush 3.5 Character Production goes over polypainting in great detail. Do you have it?

Haven't decided yet to invest in those kind of products. I guess it could be worthwhile so maybe I should start saving up for a digital copy of that.

It is most definitely worth it imo. If you would like to hone your skills and grow as an artist, what better than learning techniques and pipelines from professionals Smiling

On another note I decided to practice a bit yesterday. Made this rock dragon thing. Thoughts?

That actually looks really sick! I really like where its going. Are you planning on making it a full project?

Not sure, its just a bust right now, and I modeled my trex into a full project when it started as a bust but its kinda hard to do. (probably cus Im not doing it right.)

Ok I really gotta stop making busts they keep turning into full blown masterpeices. (WIP still ofcourse but it is shapeing up to look awesome, quite happy with it)

Does anyone know how I could fix this head on a body without having a massive seam at the base of the neck?

Hey all, haven't posted here in a bit so I thought I'd post a little update on what I'm doing. Here is a new trex that I am currently working on, should be interesting to convert this one into a low poly mesh, so many details I'd like to keep.

Hello, finally finished the sculpt for my trex haha, took a looong time on this one, I lost interest around the tail just because of how bland it is in nature, but finally managed to muscle through it. Here's a picture of the full sculpt, now to go onto the low poly model!

Any ideas on what my target poly-count should be?

Wow man this is fantastic. I think if you were to take more time and edit the skin around each scale as well as his gums it would be gold! But if not, still an awesome piece Smiling

Here's the finished diffuse and normal maps on a low poly model in my game engine. Laughing out loud There is still a few artifacts on the cavity and ambient occlusion maps but I'm working on it. What do you guys think? I'm working on the teeth and eyes next.
