xNormal under WINE on Linux fails to install
Tried installing xNormal on Linux under WINE and installer crashes on DirectX redistributables installation. Is there .zip package where I can simply run xNormal without installing stuff I already installed separately ? Or is there a way to tell installer not to install DirectX stuff? Thanks.
Aye, gotcha. Any ETA on Linux version?
Btw, got it to install after telling WINE to use Windows 7 mode (OpenRL failed, but installation was successful). However, when I ran it, I got crash with the following report: http://pastebin.com/azQBPTU7
Any hints what's missing now?
P.S. There are several apps that use many Windows components, however, I managed to get it running on Linux under WINE. So I am still having hope for xNormal
Thanks!
Q1 next year with luck. We're only targetting Ubuntu 12.04 LTS though. Other distros just don't install properly on our computers.
About the WINE error... have you tried to install it into a path without spaces?
Tried installing into a folder with no spaces.. Got almost identical crash http://pastebin.com/L4TRRwSd upon launching xNormal.
I am on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64bit if that helps. I literally can run almost every 3D app under WINE, except xNormal
Might be a problem with .NET 2.0's (System.Windows.Forms) or WinSxS then 8(

Wine won't work because xNormal uses a lot of Microsoft's propietary APIs like DX10, .NET, Vc redist, WinSxS as well as windoze-JDK and several windows's exclusive tweaks ( like the GPGPU watchdog and IO-async threading pools ).
I'm afraid you must wait for xn4 or login into Windows/virtualization.
