xNormal gets stuck analyzing the high poly mesh
Hey Guys,
I'm having an issue with xNormal, while trying to bake a normal map. The issue is, it gets stuck in the first step, analyzing the high poly mesh:

I left it there for a good 30 mins, and it stayed like this. Am I doing something wrong?
Some info:
Hardware: Macbook Pro i7 15 inch running Windows 7 x64
S/W: Maya 2011 ; headus UvLayout
I exported both my high and low poly models as OBJ's from Maya 2011, placed them in xNormal as explained in several tutorials, and it gets stuck.
My settings:

Any help would be greatly appreciated
I am having this problem.
xNormal ran fine for be up untill now, I have a fresh windows 7 install (upgraded from xp64) and i am getting the same results as eglorian.
I have my objs compressed how do i send them to you?
Okay, It looks like this problem is because of Nsided Geo. The odd thing was i had to go back to version 3.17.1 in order for xNormal to tell me there was a problem with the geo. Anyway I fixed the Geo and am extracting maps as I type!
Ps: Thank you Jogshy for continuing to provide us with a great program!
N-gons are a no-no. Btw, if you triangulate your meshes before exporting them xNormal will save some time loading the file.
Ideally, better use the SBM format if possible.
Hey guys,
Thanks for the help, it was N-Sided Geo. Now, I have the high poly mesh cleaned up, triangulated, and it works now
it is necessary to unwrapped the low polymodel, before go to zbrush, and then put in the xnormal the high .obj from zbrush and the low .obj from max???, im questioning becauses trying with a model withouth unwrapped and get uvs i can make the normal and the Oclussion...
If you only plan to render per-vertex AO with the Simple AO tool you DO NOT need to UV-unwrap the mesh.
If you want to bake any texture, your lowpoly mesh MUST BE unwrapped. The highpoly mesh just need to be UV-wrapped if you're gonna bake its diffuse texture into the LP.

Can you compress the meshes with 7zip ultra-compression and send them to me for debugging purposes, pls?
