Before writing a psd export plug-in...

... I checked xnormal and the forums and was highly surprised that xnormal can't output psd's and that no one ever asked for it in the forums. So before sitting down and writing an psd exorter for xnormal I wanted to ask, as I am just a stupid programmer, if artists just don't need normal maps and other xnormal output in this format? Or are there some issues? technical, legal or whatnot wise?

I think that most people use .TGA tbh.

But saying that, more support for different formats is always a good thing Smiling

Well, I wrote a PSD importer and I simply didn't like the format. It's propietary and there's not much good info about it.

The whole point of PSD files is that it can manage multiple layers but, like xN can only manage one, it's simply not very useful.

If you need it you can download the xN SDK and write your own one.
