Hello, i select the low poly and then go to select the high poly using the "pick..." option in the Projection mapping section of the RTT dialoge,

But when i select the high poly objects the whole thing becomes not responsive and 3ds goes into (Not Responding)

What could i be doing wrong?

could an object not having a ray-trace texture on it do this or maybe something iv missed?

i just had to wait and it sorted itself,

now i have another problem. whats with all the harsh angles on the lowpoly? is this to do with smoothing groups?

Yea thats a smoothing group issue.

Just assign a different group for the flat and concave parts and re-bake it out Smiling

Thanks for the reply! iv been detatching the selection and reattatching it so its now an element. then selecting that and giving it a smoothing group.

XSI doesnt seem to have these smoothing group problems.

Even giving the flat and concave parts the same group seems to work with elements. is this a good way to do it or not???

Iv been detatching along the uvw edges. speeking of which, is there an easyer way to select the uvw island than applying a uvw unwrap. clicking the island on the uvw and then applying a edit poly and asign the smoothing group with "use stack selection" ticked?

It just seems annoying i have to keep reapplying a unwrap uvw to edit bits.
