Konnichiwa!

It has been quite some time! I hope everyone is still fired up to take these mini's on, so I am kicking it back off with a modeling and presentation challenge Laughing out loud

Rules:

  • Create a type of grenade! - (You can either re-create the one I made, or choose a design of your choice.)
  • Update as you make progress!
  • No Floating Geometry
  • If you have any questions related to topology, please post wire shots of the area you are struggling with.
  • Render out and Composite a 3D Presentation of your end result!

Can't wait to see what you guys come up with!

I'll be getting in on this, too - great model for a small challenge, some deceptively tricky elements in there. Is there an official "deadline," or are things a little more flexible / informal? Either way, can't wait to get stuck in!

Sounds great guys! Glad to hear you will be taking on the challenge!

@ danshewan - There is no deadline Smiling It is meant to be worked on when you have time or inspiration to do so.

Awesome - my favorite kind of deadline! Already started blocking out, and again, great choice for a modeling challenge. Have already identified some areas that are likely to keep me up at night. Smiling

Can We use normal map or displacement map for that hexagon detail.?

No, everything has to be modeled. Smooth as a whistle Smiling

And the modeling is done. The middle hexagons have been smoothed before i applied a bend deformer so no low poly wireframe for them. Now im gonna get some sleep and after that im gonna start working on the final shot.

Awesome man! I love how it came out Laughing out loud You are correct in using sub-d's before using a warp modifier.

Hey ubermensch86!

Glad to hear you will be joining Laughing out loud
There are no real deadlines set in stone. And there is no need to make a separate thread, just post here Smiling

Hi everyone,

I came across this mini challenge the other day while browsing online and it looked like a lot of fun so I decided to design and model my own grenade.  Here is my final render and wireframe.  I hope you guys like it!  It is my first post on this forum and so I am not really sure how these challenges go.  I saw that there wasn't really a deadline, so I don't know if this thing is still going or not.   Anyway, feel free to check out more of my work on my website www.gurmukhbhasin.com

Welcome to Eat 3D!
So glad you decided to do this challenge!

This is really awesome! I love the turnout Smiling And the fact that you textured it is really cool. The colors are great.
Would it be ok if I attached your images using the eat3d attachment system? That way it won't ever break or show empty image slots.

Thanks Jeremy, please feel free to attach the images properly.  I wasn't sure about the right way to attach my image so I just used my blog to do it.  I am glad you like my entry, it was a lot of fun to create.  I am not sure if people are still taking part in the challenge, but I am looking forward to seeing more grenade designs if people are still working on theirs.

No problem Smiling
The images should now be attached using the Eat3D attachment system.

The good thing about the workshops here at eat3d is there are no time limits or "Date Limits". You can hop on any workshop at any point and do them. If you want practice, you could even do them multiple times! It's all up to you.
