WORKSHOP #6 - What Will Be Your Weapon Of Choice?!
Zombies!
They are a menace and have haunted the nightmares of all mankind. Well today is the day you make your stand!
Rules:
You are a survivor lost within a zombie infested town. The ammo supply has run out, therefore you have to rely on a melee weapon to do your dirty work!
Look around you, quick! And construct a weapon that can save your life!!!
1. Create a Unique Melee Weapon
2. Must Have High Poly Version of Your Model
3. You Must Render Out Your High Poly Weapon
4. Post Up Lots of Progress Shots!
NOTE* - Here are some ideas to help others get their Brain Juices flowing!
- Nunchuck Bricks
- Stop Sign Axe
- Lawn Mower Throwing Blade
- Nail Gun Hydrolic Puncher (Wear around wrist and when close enough release the hydrolic)!!! Ouch
- Fire Hydrant Sledge Hammer
- Stop Sign Axe
And have fun guys
-Jeremy-
Yea, just use your imagination with items and objects you might find within the environment. Like a Pipe Axe or Nail Gun that shoots glass
-Jeremy-
is crossbow considered as a melee weapon? so maybe i finish my current crossbow and compete in this workshop
it is a nice anti-zombie stuff!
Great start J24! I like the idea of an axe for a zombie fight!
@Car3on - Hm.. it could if you built in a functionality to it. By default a crossbow is ranged but what if you modified it for close encounters? Maybe a head strap at the end and a mase like blunt back end. That way you could hit them in with the back and when they were daised, you could throw the heads strap over the skull and pull the trigger! That would make for one messy headshot! Just an idea but try to work in something like that to make it melee based.
Can't wait to see more guys!!

I was thinking some sort of kusarigama

Made from a baseball or brick as a counterweight (something more like a brick but less fragile) on a rope that is tied to some sort of knife duct taped to a pole, but I have one problem that I can't find an answer to on the interwebs
What's the best way to tie a complex knot in a rope accurately, unless manual splines and path deform a rope is the best way.
I want in on this
Darn42 Nice Idea man! That is the kind of weapon I am talking about
Made from the items around you. That is using the survivor spirit haha.
I know there are some ways to do complex knots using a combination of hand modeling and maxscripting but I would just learn how to tie one in real life and then replicate it. Will give you the best result if you do it that way.
-Jeremy-
Thanks for the advice. You gave me the very bad urge to actually build something like this in real life... something that will end in someone accidentally killed due to me being stupid...
I might just do the ball part though. I'll start making progress once life settles down a bit.
Haha Nice Alex
Although, might wan't to secure it a bit better than some wire. When you shove that blade into zombie brain you don't want the wire to break from yo pulling it out!
Can't wait to see more guys! Unlimited possibilities with this one.

Simon would agree that a cricket bat is the best blunt weapon for the job. Just got the quick block out done and now begins the fun stuff.

Getting back to it.
-The new design is completely different from the original cricket bat.
-Instead now the weapon consists of a scythe that has been attached to a 2" steel pipe. While the scythe is great for decapitating zombies the opposite side is for the quick hacking of enemies. Two off-centered chef knifes protect the main edge.
-Things to do: Complete the handle, bolts and fasteners, and design a hinge joint to bring the scythe down for more effective zombie beat downs.
Great stuff CowTipper (love the name btw)
That would be pretty cool if instead of a full cricket bat, it was a self created cricket bat using junk items laying around! I bet you could make it even more deadly that way
-Jeremy-
I want make part of this, i like the zombie universe. =)
is just high poly?.
Without texture?.

Thanks Jeremy!
I agree with that suggestion it is plain right now. I will be working on it tonight.
Pretty sure that a crossbow is not a melee weapon.
Oh, I'd just sculpt the knot out of a cube. Don't bother actually twisting a polygon into one.
nice progress mates, i am in for this mini challange and i am going to model WRENCH
Jfobrien87... I love this idea! Can't wait to see more
-Jeremy-
Really great progress man!
Can't wait to see more
-Jeremy-
Great dude!.
Good Hard Surface!.
Looking great jfobrien87 and jassi cant wait to see more.
Updates posted in the original comment.
Is this preferred? Or should I make a new comment per update? I would rather keep it contained instead of clogging the whole forum.
Wrench brand does make the best wrenches.
Looking great man
Side Note:
(Some of the areas seem like the normal map could be exaggerated a bit more)
I can't wait to see more!

hey guys, ive been wanting to join this thread for a while, thought i might show some work in progress of what could be a perfect weapon for slicing zombies.
im working from reference but im thinking of somehow combining this mcculloch bowsaw with a shotgun. i'll see how it goes, it will be a one bloody weapon.
feedback and crits are welcome
Superb!
-Jeremy-
Thanx ceribral
Very inventive! I have to say, that would give a zombie quite the headache
-Jeremy-

So we make a weapon based on household stuff? sweet.
