I'm trying to learn how to light and create environments.  Getting the lighting and its falloff is so hard In Maya. I was just wondering if there are any beginners that have used the Unreal Engine lights.  Are there people that can compare the environment lighting work flow of Unreal to Maya?  In the UDK Lighting and Post Processing DVD, will you learn how to bake lighting to texture as well as set up your lights?  How do you get a copy of the Unreal engine so you can practice what you learn from the DVD?

Get the UDK here: http://www.udk.com/download
AS for unreal lighting in relation to maya. I dont think the too have too much incommon. Maybe some similarities but inside maya you can replicate real lighting conditions using a host of different techniques which involve more complex stuff like global illumination and final gather and such, and compared to unreal its really quite different.

Hmmm, ok thanks.  So, there is no Global illumination nor bake to texture features in Unreal?

Well it's best to get the grip of "lighting process" then worry about baking which can be done in Max/Maya........;check these links out:
