Modular Issue in UDK
I'm using modular pieces to make a train station, but the problem I am running into is that the static mesh pieces look different from one another. I use Maya to make the meshes and then build them and combine them. Then I export from Maya and into UDK. The textures are tileable and use the same spec maps and normals. In Maya everything appears okay no weird seams or difference in color. In the images below you can see that on window section is darker than the other. Even though that they are duplicates of one another they display different. I am a new user to UDK so any suggestions would be mush appreciated.
Thanks! Yeah that's the problem I'm running into. The textures are tile able and so is the geometry. Someone told me that Using multiple assets on one texture map may be causing this issue. Ive tried messing with all the maps and even changing the geometry. But the windows and doors still stand out and do not tile. On the other hand the wall piece that is blank tiles very nicely. Any suggestions as to why this is happening?????
Well tryied separating the textures into their own maps, but that didn't work. I get the same results. Could anyone tell me if this may be happening because the wall mesh has different geometry than the window mesh?
It can have to do with the mipmapping, you are using a white background on your diffuse / color map and that is what you see in the editor as seams, will be clearer when you zoom out and less visible up close I guess, try to extend the texture over the white spaces in your texture and / or color it so it wont be noticable.
i had a exactly same problem with modules that i made couple of weeks ago. i found out that if u use module pieces, the pieces shouldn't have thickness (just a plan without depth)' otherwise u will see some lightmap's shadow generated within the modules.

Nice work! You are getting some pretty bad seams where the meshes are nest to each other, so you may want to check what is causing that.
Keep it up!
