Hey, new site design is great! alot better than before Smiling

Was wondering, how would i go about making glass in UT3? I'm making a helicopter for a UT3 mod and was wondering how i would go about making a glass, that isn't 100% see through, but you can see through it, enough to see whats behind it etc.

thanks.

well i guess its something todo with the alphas? and don't check compression no aplha when importing, make the area that i want to be a window a light grey in the channels tab? i'll try that in a bit.

The main problem in UE3 is lit transparencies. I'm not even sure if it supports it still but it might. In these situations there are usually 2 options in most games. One is to have it actually transparent, but when you do that it needs to be set to unlit, then you have to plug stuff into the emissive or custom lighting to get it not to show up black. The other way is to have it opaque and face the interior with a parallax max just like I do in the materials dvd.

Also yeah, if you want to pack the mask in the alpha make sure not to check compression no alpha.

A 3rd option may be to simply have it transparent and lit, but from what I've always understood, it's very expensive performance wise and is almost never allowed in the final game.

ah cool a sale I ended up checking out how other glass materials that were already made in UE3, and I've got one working i guess, but light can't actually pass through the glass, maybe I'll just stick a light in the cockpit as the vehicle won't be mobile Smiling
