I figured I would try a contest.  I will be doing my own rendition on the Landmate mobile suit from Appleseed (Shirow Masamune).  I am partial to the smoother manga version, so it will prob go in that direction.  Here is what I'm working with, just blocking shapes.  I have a mac at work, so I've started in Maya and will cross over to Max when I get home.

Just adding details.

There is a lot of detail to be created under the armor.  Here are some crude draw overs depicting where I'd like to go.  I did not show the electronics (wires, cables, power units, etc) nor the engine system based in the legs (for space I may put them in the back of the torso).

The main parts are the cockpit with the piloting systems, the pilot cover plates, the structural frame and movement components, the mechwarrior esque myomer muscles and the before mentioned parts... then making them look like they work together Sticking out tongue

I fried my motherboard a few weeks back, the upside is I "had" to upgrade to 8GB of DDR3 Laughing out loud which was much better than the sluggish 3GB of DDR2 I was running.  Hopefully the graphics card will hold up!

Working on the camera boom.  Needs the camera at the other end with opening panel hinges, more components on the drive motor like the electric wiring, screws, etc.

I'm working on the shoulder joint.  I still need some things like connecting bolts, electrical wires, fluid cables.

I've been really busy the past week, so I had to put this on hold.  I finally got enough work done to warrant an update.  I've continued to block out the frame, the internal component locations and built the engine.  It is loosely based on a Lotus hybrid motor with an intercooled turbocharger system.  I still need to add framework in the torso, as well as the electronic cable bundles.

Here is an update.  Adding more stuff.  I've got to get the head internals and cover, add some more cables to the shoulder camera booms, and smaller bolts to piece all this stuff together.  Once this is done, I can knock out the rest of the arms and move into the lower torso and cockpit.

Just a quick reminder about the process for your final submission Smiling

Please ensure that your final submission has everything that is required for entry, edited into your first post (beauty shot's and turntables etc.)

  • You must provide an unsmoothed wireframe beauty shot of the finished model, from multiple angles.
  • You must submit at least 1 final beauty shot that is at least 1280x720.
  • You must submit at least 1 turnaround movie of the vehicle created in any application of your choice.
  • Post your final image on the first post in your thread using our "File Attachments" system.
  • Upload your video turnaround to a popular video sharing site (Youtube, Vimeo, etc) and post the link/embed in the first post of your thread in the " Video Link" field.

Also please make sure that you edit the title of your thread to have - Final at the end.

e.g. High Poly Vehicle - metalliandy - Final

Thanks and good luck! Smiling
