Nice one, would really like to know how you utilise the fibers so well Smiling I've been looking into hair fibers myself in ZB but hard to find good resources on them.

alouattaz: thanks Eye-wink

Torch:thnx -  actually its not fibers, but geometry generated with zspheres Smiling i only used the fibers to do the fur around his neck

littlepsycho:thanks buddy Eye-wink

metalliandy: thanks man - glad you like it:-)

little update here, have been trying around with the beard and some base colors and shaders to get an idea what the final result may approximately look like

hey guys thanks a lot for all the kind comments!

@doses: I simply used zspheres to do the, just started with on little hair and copied it all over the place basically Eye-wink

here is a small update, i have been struggling with the rendersettings, sss settings and finding the proper shaders for my final render before i start the polypiant. took me some time, and i am not a 100% satisfied with it, but i will skip that process now and do the missing detailing and polypaint first i think Eye-wink

Schiefer, an incredible piece of work, beautiful progress.

I can understand your frustrations with render settings.

Cant wait to see the finished result.

Hey Schiefer!

Nice render, although we cant read the fur you had done for the bottom part.

I know you are still tweaking it, but I do have a few of questions:

Are you using the BPR in Z4?

And can you combine BPR and best when rendering?

I to am playing around with it and noticed that BPR will not render out the different color lighting setups.( a three point light with cool Key light and a warm rim light will not render like a best render would)

I know its called a Best Preview Render and although i love the rendering it gives , it really frustrates me not to be able to play with the color in the light to get a nice atmosphere.

I will post later on to illustrate my particular problem.

Hopefully it is do to a lack of knowledge on my behalf!

BTW the brows and beard are really crazy...must have taken you quite some time to place everything around..lol.

Cheers

Bozyszcz: thanks a lot dude, but no it is not like that, well maybe sometimes but mostly its a long way of trying this and that Eye-wink

grungenie: thanks man Eye-wink

lacticis: thanks a lot Ady, not really frustrated but not really satisfied yet, i will try to squeeze more out of it Eye-wink

maikeelassi: yes the bottompart is pretty dark on that one, but afterall the damn fibers are not that important Eye-wink
Yes i use the BPR at the moment, i dropped a few lines concerning that over at your thread. Looking forward to your
experiments, wanted to do some on a smaller tool, too. Will keep you updated and post my render settings once i am finished

Torch: hehe thanks a lot buddy - really gald you like it Eye-wink

here comes a new one, i changed the bg to green, added some polypaint to the crown and face and skipped those extensions at the collar because i felt like they are too much, and have been tweaking the rendersettings for a while;-

OMG! It's amazing, from the concept to the sculpt and the expression, it's superb!

I must admit, if there was a tutorial of a process similar to the one you used for this, from the base sculpt to the way you intersected Zbrush with 3D coat to get the crown, the way you painted and tweaked the materials including the fibers, all inside Zbrush, that'd be a priority for me.

The only thing I could point out is that, maybe, the pipe could seem a bit more heavy. But great work, congratulations, you deserve it.

Wow amazing sculpt!! big sense of details, love it!

Great work on wrinkles perfectly realistic, good sense of compression of the skin.

The expression is so realistic we can imagine he's thinking with his deep look

Great use of fiber to!

guaybeiro: thanks a lot  man, the fur is created with the fibershader Eye-wink

sdabbs:thanks a lot glad you like it, love your pingiun Eye-wink

grungenie: hehe thank you, too. Did the beard an brows using zspheres to generate a small bunch of hair and copied it all over the place

loup987567: thanks a lot buddy for the kind words Smiling

PedroC: oh thanks a lot, well the pipe, yes. its exactly what i thought in the last one it reads really bad so i decided to give it a new design an a lighter color.

metalliandy: Thanks a lot for the kind words, andy Eye-wink

Kenshiro: thank you Smiling

arkadius: thanks a lot dude, glad you think so. Well we'll see but i dont think so, can't get the demongirls design to that magic point atm

STRIKER: thank you man, yes the fur at the bottom is more a try to get into the fibers, atm i am not 100% happy with it, if i find enough time before the deadline i will possibly change it and do something different.

Laticis: Hey Ady, thanks a lot and all the best wishes for you , too

little update here, did a new pipe since the old one didn't read very good, new shape and lighter color, not yet happy with the shader but afterall it is an improvement i think Smiling

more to come soon, need to do some work at the backside of the crown, hope to find enough time to finish  within the deadline

merry christmas to all you you guys here Eye-wink

aamirhussain: thank you , too

IsmailW: thanks , glad you like it

alouattaz: Man! Thank you very much for the kind words buddy. I will try to do some kind of breakdown but i am not sure if i find the time to do that soon. Virtual coffe sounds good as well, sent you an pm with my skype contact, feel free to contact me if you want to Eye-wink

little turntabletest here hope you like it more to come soon.

i skipped the fur at his neck because i didn't really like it afterall and i had the same prob maikeelassi reported at his thread, it rendered different at every frame so it got that flickering effect. New piece is just a blockin, need refine that - and still not satisfied with the crowns backside - more to come soon

Great turntable Schiefer!

I, on the other hand, very much enjoyed the back of the crown!

I'm curious to see what will become of it!

hi. i need to ask something ....... can you please tell me how to take a render that keeps the fidelity of the details of polypaint? I posted some color pass WIP renders and its a pity that the posted image has just about 60 percent of the Zbrush detail. I used the best render and exported the documents to photoshop. From there I saved out a jpg and posted it. I see most of the finished posts capture even the finest detail very neatly. Is it the resolution of the document that makes the difference?

schiefer's picture
Posts: 160

maikeelassi: hey thanks a lot happy new year dude.

grungenie: best thing is to render the document doublesize and scale it down in ps afterwards, thats what i did. I used the bpr render instead of the best render because it provides better lighting. hope that helps man.

here is the first pic of my finals, will post the complete package tomorrow as soon as the turntable is finished.

Thank you so much Shiefer for sharing the process for generating the render.... this one is sure the top-row stuff ..... ur sense of design is quite inspiring ........great show..!!!! just one more thing to ask .... is it possible to take bpr in zbrush 3.5 ?

Wish you  very happy new year!!!!

schiefer's picture
Posts: 160

maikeelassi: Smiling thank you once more

grungenie: nope sorry to say bpr is one of the new zb4 features. To enhance the qualities of the best render try to alter the lighting settings. I attached a shot of the light palette, you will possibly miss some of the buttons shown there as it is a shot taken from zb4, and i am not sure if i can explain the most essential basics i discovered while trying the best render, but i hope this will help a bit.

Try around with those settings to adjust the results of the best render to get something you like

thnx happy new year  too Eye-wink
