Head Sculpting - schiefer- Goblinking :: Final
Looks like its almost done..nice!
That's great bud, did you do the collar in a 3D app then imported? Or just used Shadowbox? Would be nice to see your workflow
@Rico: hey thnx a lot glad you like it
@sgv3dmax: thnx man , but no it's far far far from finished
@Torch: thnx
to answer your question, it is neither 3dapp nor shadowbox, its just a polysphere and a lot of push and pull with the movebrush. Concerning my workflow, i just discoverd a few weeks ago that a combination of zb and 3dcoat just works superb for me.
So i do my very first roughout in zb because it feels better to me and i am more experienced with it, after that i bring it to 3dcoat to carve in the holes and stuff like that, then i use that superb autopofunction to get a cleaner topo that i can use to sculpt on. This works very fast an helps me to get rid of those totally streched polys i get when deforming a polyshpere to a collar or something like that
hope that helps
little progress here, i did the retopo of the head and the crown in 3dcoat and added some very first details to the face. two more shots one of the collar and one of the crown inside 3dcoat.
Hey shiefer,
good to see you here in this forum. I know your sculpting works from ZBrushcentral. It is hard to beat you in this contest.
And by the way, great WIP
wow thats pretty awesome.
only think i notice is her neck looks abit small it doesn't expanded out at all but that could be intentional.
random question is she blind? shes like a witchdoctor/shaman awesome
Amazing job so far! I love how the silhouette is broken up well and the details are reading great! The headpiece still looks a little underdeveloped but Im sure you are already on that. Its amazing how fast you got here!
very nice, looks awesome
Wow...I love it!
Great work
Really cool..you are fast! Nice going...
random question is she blind? shes like a witchdoctor/shaman awesome
That be interesting, if she was blind, kinda like that blind batman entry jocz did for Comicon challenge. Anyways great job, your already up there.
@ampaist: he was considered to be male ;-) love the idea of the blind eyes! will keep it - thnx for inspiring
@Riki: i'm on it sir ;-) thanks for the feedback , glad you like it
@doses: thanks nice
@metalliandy: thanks a lot
really happy you like him
@sgv3dmax: hey thank you
@blu_dragon:thnx, i will have a look at the batman haven't seen him yet, but i have senn some of jocz scuplts and i really liked them i think, thanks for inspiring, too
here is the latest update, hope you like it
lookin great so far dude, curious what your plans are for the headpiece
really cool character ^^
dig it so far. not sure where else you could go with it, looks great
Hey man, looking great, this is gonna be an awesome final piece! Only one crit so far, preferred the 'bluey' gradient background to the new 'orangey' one, seemed to contrast better
Really nice rendering in zbrush man .How did you set that up .
my favorite one for the moment ^^ !
love the way you render blind eyes !
his crown is amazing.
just a little critic : the face is a little bit too symetrical and the expression too neutral.
but it so well done !
Agreed with Alouattaz, my favourite one so far
hey ! nice portrait !
it looks a bit like Gandalf
.
Cheers!
hey thanks for the kind words everybody.
@fusedgore: nothing really complicated, i normally use 2 or 3 lights and the bpr render. When using multiple lights i discovered that it works best for me only to have shadows on on my mainlight. If you are interested i can post some screenshot of the exact settings.
@alouattaz & torch: absolutly agree with you guys. I will definitly break the symmetry and give him some expression later one, i was also thinking a pipe would fit him well
@andrei.sz: yes indeed i already ha the same thought
little progress on the goblinking, i played around with fibers and did some minor adjustments to his beard and eyebrows.
more to come soon.
amazing, nice job
Cool man, are fibers easy to use and control? Never really used the function but they seem to give a great effect!
Yeah please do man .As I think that woudl help allot out .Maybe that could be a good idea for a tut .You dont see any real tutorials on rendering images in zbrush .Big overlooked skill in my opinion.
Very nice work Schiefer, I am well impressed.
He´s looking great man. This is one of my favorits for this contest.
wow,.,great job man...
Every time i come back to this thread, the updates are looked more and more bad ass!
I really love the detail in this piece
Keep it up, you are doing brilliantly!
doses: thanks a lot
Torch: hey thank you, too. Yes the fibers definitly give a great effect, and they aren't that difficult to control - i never tried them before so it took me some time to get them adjusted properly. I suggest to save them as a new material when you come up with something you like, thats what i did after a while when i got bored of reconstructing the settings again and again
fusedgore: ok i will do that soon, afterall i am not an ace in rendering in zb
it has always been one of my blind spots, but i willl do my best to illustrate my puny little techniques to you.
Laticis: Thank you very much for the kind words
john_doe: thanks buddy glad you like it
biano3d: thank you !
metalliandy: thanks a lot andy, really glad you like it
little update on the gobboking here - i added somemore details to his crown , added the pipe and did him some kind of basic expression on an extra sculpting layer just to figure out what the endresult might look like
two more pics of somekind of machinedemonhead concept i did last weekend, maybe i am going to put it into another thread, but currently i am not sure about the design so i might skip it.
thanks once more to everybody for the great feedback, it is a huge motivationboost
great !
expression give him more life and character !
maybe you should rotate just a little bit his head like 2 or 3 degres in any direction.. just suggestion.
the second one is nice too!!
nice
i really like the contrast in details in the goblin king comparing crown to face.
not so fond of the second one. very busy from a distance and it doesn't have the same amount of character as the goblin king.
it's still a great sculpt, just not as interesting as the first.
nice one man...............
I love cyborg
nice, goblin king turns out great, i like his stoned expression on his face^^
I really don't think I have the words to describe my admitation of you right now dude. That goboking is just beutifull. I cant even begin to wrap my head around how you did the crown and the rest omg
You should try to get this dude printed I'm sure they have some DnD nuts that would absolutey love to have a full sized bust of this dude mounted in a display as they run a game!
hey thanks for all the kind words guys!
@alouattaz: yes very good suggestion i will definitly do that to my final piece as soon as all the detailing is done.
@divi: yes same what i think
@nerf3601: yea i would love to get that dude printed
but first he has to be finished, still a lot of work to do
here is a small update, have been busy doing different stuff the last week, but today i started detailing the skin
hope you like it
cheers schiefer

Looking good, I really like the details so far!
Dude, the Goblin is killer. I love the style and overall look. great job.
Can't wait to see him textured, nice work so far
can't wait to see some color on it !
you've made an amasing job !
Excuse me while I pick my jaw up from the floor...
alouattaz: thanks a lot dude
bunglo: hehe thnx man, glad you like it
two more about the detailing progress, still so much to do, started working on the crowns details and the expression
tweaked the expression of the mouth on the second one to give him more of a smile - want him to have some kind of 'friendlywisesmile' expression
c&c welcome

THe hair is wild....Great progress! Excited for the texturing.
WOW..aeuhuaehuae....that´s FU*** awesome.....congrats man...
The crown looks killer, way to go!
There are some jaw dropping sculpts in this competition, and this is definitely one of them!
