Hey all. Something i just finished working on using the skills i learned from Eat3D. Feedback is appreciated. Thanks!
Textures and low poly asset inside UE3.

wow this looks great!
Try what Andy said, I think that could help too. Take your diffuse into Crazybump and test out overlaying some details.
Thanks guys! I scuplted everythng but the hard edge stuff, which i had created before i saw how to properly use turbo-smooths in the latest dvd series. Not sure what you guys mean about overlaying details using crazybump, or do you mean just using an overlay and taking out the blue channel?

yeah exactly, and you could also mask out some of the areas that are just too much. Its just another layer of normal detail to add on and give more surface detail. Its almost like a bump map.
Great job on the model buddy
Looks Great!
Critiques:
Try to fix up the shadows in UT3 Editor. They seem to not exist or fade away way to quick. Like Metalliandy said, try to add more to the normal. Perhaps adding a layer of grunge that matches the texture. Also, using the methods in the texturing dvd here at eat3d, try to mess with your RGB levels on your normal map to really bring it out. It is more like a bump map. Perhaps a a sharper and more crisp spec map could really give it some character. I would expect a gold type of material to really gleam. (Even if it is a bit grungy)
Great work again and keep us updated!![]()

Yeah my lighting skills have alot to be desired, especially on getting dynamic shadows in UE editor. It doesnt help i cant veiw lighting in realtime since realtime lighting in UE3 currently does not work for most ATI cards(lameee).
Thanks for replys. Ill post an update soon.

Reworking textures. So far..

Very nice work...very nice indeed
I think if you added some extra detail to the normal map, using CrazyBump it would really bring it to the next level and doing a little sculpting on the hard edges would help dirty it up some.
Things like scratches and small dents would really make it pop and its hard to tell because the flats you posted are a little small, but you could try adding an unsharp mask over both textures to help define the detail a little more.
Keep it up Buddikaman...i want to see some more
