 Hey what up,

This is my first post of a wip that i have just started on. It is going to be a quad leg mech that I plan on rendering with bunkspeed hypershot www.bunkspeed.com/hypershot/

Right now I am stuck very stuck in terms of lack of reference and also just an exact ascetic that I am going for. If any of you have any reference or ideas or concepts on how i can bring all this together that would be amazing. I thought I had the overall idea down for what i wanted the mech to look like but i was wrong   I also attached my main reference, I am not modeling exactly this model but It is just for a bit of reference. You are all very talented artist and I think i could def get a lot of great feedback from you guys. thanks for taking the time to check out my post.

Wow great start. Love the details.

As for reference I think could look at what you've done so far and look for themes in the details and run with it. You have the ball and open attachments at the top of the legs. That theme could be worked into an arm. The folded metal could be the beginnings of the torso.

Woohoo! I think this is looking great man. I am a giant fan of the armored core franchise. It is a sick game and have modeled several mecha from it as well. Your beginning is looking great man. Keep up the good work! Are you thinking about rigging it?

That would be pretty sweet to get a full operating rig created. Good luck with the rest of it buddy! Keep us updated!

Hey guys thanks for the kind words

mdamico: I think I am going to def run with the ball joint working into the hips of the overall mech just because the way i see it its really the only way i see this thing moving correctly the way the legs are positioned haha. Thanks a lot for the feedback man.

Ceribral: Yeah man i love all of the art from armored core but for some reason i have been rather disappointed in the actual gameplay, never actually feels like you are operating something that is massive and heavy always feels like a big dude just jumping around with a ton of guns lol I think I will rig it possibly since the weighting would not be an issue at all. My machine is started to chug already but I will see what I can do

Slip,

You know what, you are absolutely right. Everytime you look at the cutscenes it is just beautiful and sends chills down your back because all the mechs, action, etc, is so freaking sweet!!! Then you jump into gameplay and feel like you are playing xbox or playstation 2 with horrible graphics (Compared to the cutscenes) and horrible animation. Still love the concept and game though. However I do agree with your description

Keep up the hard work and keep us updated!

wow that is really cool. I can imagine how much fun that will be to animate, hahah. Good luck with the rig :p

What you have now looks solid, the proportions look good and detail is through the roof. Maybe try and do a nice clean AO render so we can see it like that.

Yo whats up ceribral !!

Right now since I started back to school I have been really busy with school work and have not had to much time to work on my personal work which really sucks because I was really hoping to have it done before the semester started   The last thing I did was start detailing the ball joints and starting the main connection to the hips I will post some wip pics soon enough. I actually have a lot of personal work I wanna put on here to show you guys to which you will see soon.  Thanks for the interest ceribral !

Slip, do you have sketches and drawings? I have a book that gives me a wonderful set of rules on Mech development: Mechamanika By Doug Chiang. You don't have to go into great depths of Doug Chiang's idea of drawing and finishing, but hooks us up with a glimpse of your ideas?

Hey Longbowan,

No sketches or drawings, but what I did have was actual mech model kits from the armored core series. I bought a couple of them and took a look at the manuals and built them and looked at the way that the joints where put together in a way that makes it logically able to move. I have never heard of that book before but I just looked it up and this would have helped GREATLY EARLY ON ! But I am not finished up with this beast. I dont know if you have seen it but I have more progress of it in a more completed state here http://eat3d.com/forum/art-gallery/erebus-mech-work-progress I am still modeling more on to this thing to make it more like a walking fortress so we will see how that goes.

thanks for the info !
