Hey Everyone,

I'm Chris Green currently studying Games Design (final year) at Norwich University and I'll to be graduating soon! I would really appreciate it if you could take a moment to look over my current portfolio, and let me know where you think I stand in my position of gaining a job in the industry as an Environment Artist/Asset Artist. I'm seeing all these fantastic artists getting hired recently and it scares me about whether or not I'll be able to find a position.

I'll be working on my portfolio full time after completion of my course, so please any suggestions to help further the marketability of my portfolio would be appreciated.

Please critique away, what ever you can. I really want to grow as an artist and get to a professional standard

Thank you!

Hey Chris,

Your work looks good, you seem to know your stuff.  As far as marketability of your portfolio, I think it would help to create model sheets with important information listed on them... for instance:

  • Software(s) used
  • Poly / triangle count (some of your screenshots included this, some didn't)
  • Wireframes (shows you know how to model efficiently and distribute polygons correctly, esp. important if you wanna target game companies)
  • Texture sheets / texture information (texture size of the model we are looking at, what types used [diffuse, normal, spec, gloss, alpha, etc.])

Other than that it seems you're on the right track... keep it up!

Nice work Smiling

In regards to your portfolio, I think you don't get to see the art fast enough. I think you would be better taking people directly to art immediately and then they can find out other information if they want.

Also, you should post wires where ever possible as people really do want to see that stuff Smiling

cheers guys I really do appreciate that feedback. I will definetly be taking those comments into consideration. As for now.... I changed the the website to a more user friendly one as I felt that it was overwhelmed with adds etc.

here is the new link http://cg3d.carbonmade.com/

It's still a lite mock up as I've only recently made it. I have had some feedback from friends/artists and I thought it'd be best to remove the concept and character art because people can find it misleading when I'm applying for an environment position/designer job.

If you have anymore input/ comments feel free to say (I'm thick skinned). Smiling
