I have finally got another piece to put up here. I attended a modeling workshop this past weekend. During the workshop I learned how to do normal maps and Texture baking. Wanted to post my newest work using these skills. I would appreciate any C/C that you have.

Looks like a nice start.  I would re-paint the black grunge, it's looking a bit too paint shop hand painted.  Also the repeating grunge on the striped patterns should be changed to be different. Also the texture itself needs some more refined detail, I think your painting needs a bit more realism to seem polished.

Thank you,

That link is very informative Ill give it a try and see what happens. I'm not the best at hand painting textures. Most of my texturing work is photomanipulation of total texture dvds with different layers merged together. I will deffinatly try out that tutorial. Thank you again.

What is your poly limit for this peace?  I think you can push a little on the hard surfaces.  Is this thing going to be animated? If not... just keep in mind you don't have to have faces thats not visible Smiling  nice box.

@Longbowan - I don't really have a poly limit. Wanted to get it as low poly as I could without losing surfaces to bake onto. It's not going to be animated. There is no inside to it at all. And thank you.

No prob.. I was looking at the poly's that are on the out side. Eye-wink Very good Smiling move on Sticking out tongue

My question here is, how exactly would you got about opening such a box? It's got straps that are bolted down onto the metal box, but it doesn't seem to have any visible way to open it, no seems or a latch. If someone wanted to put something in it, it doesn't look like they'd be able to.

@longbowan - I'm confused now. lol

@monkeyman - Actually you bring up a very good point. I'm not really sure how you would open it. Didn't put much thought into that. I'll have to figure out how you would open it and I'll get back to you on that.

@Goten-trunk - I dont have a spec map done yet. And I'm using a complete map instead of an A.O. map. from what I was told they are very similar and the A.O. map requires mental ray where the complete map does not. And if anyone is interested I'm rendering in viewport with 3point shader lite.
