Hi Eat3D folks,

This is my first post here so be gentle Smiling Anyway, this is a viking character i created as part of my final year university project. I am quite happy with how it turned out and would love to know what you guys think of it also.

Tools used: Max, Zbrush, Topogun, xNormal, Photoshop and rendered Marmoset.

Wow great job!
Only thing that looks a bit off is how thin his feet are. But man this guy looks really great Laughing out loud

Looking at it now, you are quite right about the feet Jeremy...lesson learned for next time i guess!

Texture sheets you say...your wish is my command (see above).

Nice work ! The textures are pretty good, but one thing I think that needed more work is his hair.

All beautiful things begin with a render farm !

first of all it looks great.
if i could change a few things though i would have given him an axe and maybe a shield ,but only if the shield would not steal focus, just to really press the stereotype.
id also have exaggerated the muscles to really make him intimidating.

the hammer necklace is a nice touch. the filigree on the sword and the cloth ,wrapped around his waist, adds interest in my opinion.
all in all i think he looks good.

Thanks...i completely agree with you guys and gals. The hair was something that was definitely a pain for me, mainly as it was the first time i had done hair, i would definitely work with just aplhas the next time and not have a shell and alphas.

I wanted to give him an axe as well but this character is part of a cinematic that myself and friends have been working on at university, and there is an animated stabbing scene that simply wouldn't have worked with an axe so i had to give him a sword instead.

Again, thanks for the kind words and great critique!

great job man. Bake turned out well and the overall detail keeps the moving rather than being too busy and messy. One thing this guy could use is some grunge on this skin. Looks very clean right now. The hair isn't that bad but could use some love Smiling

Have your heard of the nagel series brushes for photoshop. If you haven't there are some EXCELLENT and i mean EXCELLENT hair brushes in there. Search for Nagel Series Brushes in google or something.
