Failing on Clipping Brushes from "Hard Surface Zbrush Tutorial"
Hey guys!
I just ate the Hard Surface Zbrush Tutorial. And I love it.
I finished a concept of my machine head model and now want to create it.
I encounter several Problem which didnt occured in the video. Like the screenshot shows I want to clip the edges to make it more sharper - but I get weird artifacts... actually the tutorial showed how to avoid these things but it didnt worked for me because I extracted from a very flat surface and dont know why it occurs on clipping.
Also I can't apply GroupsLoops anyhow. When I hit the button and the mesh is fully visible - there just doesnt happen anything - also theres a weird behaviour of GroupsLoops. When I clipped the Mesh and then "Undo" and then apply GroupsLoops - then GL actually REDO the process and the often I do this the lesser I can UNDO it - so at the end when I hit GL the mesh will be redone to the messed up clipping fail and then I can't even UNDO it again. Pretty weird I don't get that.
heres the screeny:

By the way:
The Tutorial Author actually tells me at the beginning how he hides his meshes - he says "colon key" or something - I have a german keyboard and I know the colon buttons - but I actually can't figure out which works - the semicolon key is on the Ä button on the german keyboard referred to the english one. Still doesnt work -
Try increasing the resolution if the extracted part, that should make it smoother
As for the shortcuts, I think that they differ depending on your geographic location.
There is a list of the keys, which you can get HERE
Hey Andy,
Well I tried to kick up the resolution already but it to get clearer - which I forgot to show on the screenshot by screening another angle - the artifact are only on the frontface of the mesh - not on the border - so it kinda cuts the border exactly but leaves the front facing part of the mesh being half completed cut out ...
Should i videotape this fail to show more exactly?
PS: I searched already this Keylist mentioned by you above - but couldnt find it there - what is it called? "Hide All but Selected" or what
greets Charlie
I think you have to relax the model first.
already did that too - i tried almost everything - or do u mean relax the whole model or the extracted subtooled mesh?
Well I fixed my issue now while Remeshing every extracted subtool...
Was this the tutorial workflow all over? And I just never realised it? Or why didnt the tutorial author needed to remesh every single extraction to cut it properbly
Hi Falke88, this topic is nearly four month old and I guess you've found a way to isolate your meshes. Anyway for everyone else with this problem: There is a "Solo"-Button in the right Icon-Bar between "Transp" and "Xpose". This is what it looks like: http://www.pixologic.com/docs/images/9/96/Subtools_solo.png
This button isolates your currently active mesh. Just hold ALT+STRG, click it and asign a hotkey for it.
I didn't see the tutorial but I guess that's what you're talking about.
Best regards,
Andreas
Will try to make it as soon as I confront the issue again
I can't remember to get that problem fix proberbly - but thanks dude - any help is appreciated

Didnt I described the problem good enough for you guys?
