The Blender Foundation and online developer community is proud to present Blender 2.63. The 2.6x series is being targeted at including all work that happened in branches or patches past years.
The update adds numerous new rendering features and other updates including revamped DirectX 11 tessellation, increased and improved DX11 support and tessellation, multi-layer navigation mesh, improved glass rendering, geometric light beams, point light shafts, time of day based filmic hdr tone mapping, improved transitions between levels of detail, improved volumetric fog features and improved distance cloud shading!
It is now available for download via subscription accounts and for those wishing to get a trial

Epic have released the March 2012 update for UDK !
The update includes numerous bug fixes and new features, including a new ‘Create Sub-Archetype’ feature added to Unreal Content Browse, the ability to use the ‘Screen Capture’ option in Unreal Console to take a screenshotMobile and Texture paint workflow automation will now allow you to duplicate textures and hook them up to a new material instance with a single button click!
The update, which is free for registered users, contains a new features such as Vector Displacement Maps and BPR to Geo along with significant advancements to FiberMesh, NoiseMaker, Interface Enhancements, Render Enhancements and Auto Updating!
The update adds numerous new rendering features and bug fixes over previous releases and now include now includes Autodesk's Scaleform technology, along with DirectX 9 rendering improvements such as Parallax Occlusion Mapping, SSDO, Particle Global Illumination and a new “Very High” graphics configuration to support the new higher levels of rendering quality.

Guru particle developer Jahka has been hard at work developing a new set of quick effect operators for Blender 2.5 where the user can simply selecting a mesh, hitting spacebar and typing “Make Fur”, “Make Smoke” or “Make Fluid" into the space provided.
This allows an extremely efficient and quick way of getting a good base for all your particle needs
